The gang gearing up for home 😄

The ride was planned a week in advance. Our meetup was scheduled in Imus at around 5:00 AM on Saturday. Some of the group members were coming all the way from Metro Manila, so they had to start early. Since I live just 3–4 kilometers from the meetup point, it was only a short ride from my place.

From the meetup point in Kawit, we cycled along Antero Soriano Highway. It was a chill ride until we reached Naic, Cavite, where we stopped for a quick breakfast, spending around 30 minutes to refuel and rest.

After breakfast, we pedaled straight to Ternate market. Upon arrival, we stocked up on supplies—food for lunch and dinner, along with dried fish and eggs for the next morning. With everything prepared, we were ready for the final stretch of the journey.

If you’re planning to visit Kamandag Beach, here are some important things to keep in mind:

No Electricity: Bring power banks or other charging options.
Limited Mobile Reception: Signal is weak in the area.
Not a White Sand Beach: The beauty here is more rugged and black sand
No Nearby Stores or Houses: Buy everything you’ll need before heading to the beach.

We made sure to buy all our supplies in Ternate Proper before heading down to the beach. One of the great things about Kamandag Beach is its untouched and undeveloped charm. It’s not commercialized, so it often feels like a private getaway. In fact, during most of our visits, we were the only ones in the area.

Here are some of the photos I captured during our bikepacking adventure to Kamandag Beach. Despite the challenges, this place remains one of my favorite destinations due to its serene atmosphere and raw beauty.

It’s worth noting that while the beach itself is public, much of the surrounding area, including access roads, is privately owned.

Update: August 2024. Kamandag is no longer accessible to the public. During our recent ride to Kaybiang Tunnel, the way to the beach has been closed by the land owner. We are not sure if the other way is open for public use though.
